RSS (Really Simple Syndication) is a family of Web feed formats used to publish frequently updated content such as blog entries, news headlines, and podcasts in a standardized format
RSS feeds are an effective way to get new information out to your audience. New articles can be added to your feed on a daily, weekly or bi-weekly basis. This allows subscribers to instantly access the latest news you have to offer.
RSS feeds need a certain amount of dedication on the part of your organisation to create the articles regularly enough to keep people wanting to subscribe to your feed. For larger organisations, this may not be a problem, but smaller organisations should consider resources carefully before committing to creating an RSS feed.

For organisations who do not have enough resources to keep their own feed active, it is possible to display news from alternative sources which your audience might find useful and interesting.
Some sources are free and some require subscription. Some sources will allow you to define what types of news categories you wish to display, for example, display only Irish Language related news, or Disability related news. Ilikecake have a small fee for installing the RSS service and can also advise on which sources might be best for your particular organisation.
